Best meal that we had during our stay in Rothenburg, and we had some excellent meals...! Service was excellent ! All future trips through Rothenburg ob der Tauber will include a stop in Hell ?
Very good, from the reservation to the farewell! Problem-free reservation by phone, where we were kindly informed that only cash payments are possible. The food was very tasty and of good quality from starter to dessert. The portions were sufficient. The ambience is rustic and cozy. After paying, we left the place without seeing any of the employees as they were busy. Less than 5 meters from the restaurant, the boss came after and said goodbye to us very friendly. I can only recommend it!
The food was delicious. We had the duck and the game variety (roast wild boar and venison goulash), and the Federweißer was also very tasty. I have to deduct one point, we made a reservation for 8:30 p.m., but could only go into the bar at 9:20 p.m.
Food very tasty. For that I would give 5 stars. But since there is no way to sit comfortably with small children (very narrow, very uncomfortable benches, even for stronger people), I deduct 2 stars. We made a reservation and said that we would like to come with children, but they didn't want to take us in because we came with a stroller. For this one star was deducted. We never got a high chair and had to eat with our 15-month-old daughter who wants to explore the world, held on our lap. So not a family-friendly pub. Too bad.
We drank and dined excellently in a wonderfully rustic atmosphere. There was fresh Federweiß with homemade onion cake. The wild boar goulash, the sausages and the salmon were expertly prepared and to the point. It was highly recommended that the friendly and attentive service offered additional side dishes, so that one was definitely full. The homemade ice cream with Kaiserschmarren was also very tasty.
It was wonderful!! Service, food, everything. I am very glad that weather was good and we could eat outside. I recommend to have reservation for inside.
The atmosphere, the food and the service were simply fantastic. We were in a small adjoining room and enjoyed the really exceptionally delicious food to the full. The restaurant fits perfectly into the beautiful old town of Rothenburg
The six of us were allowed to go to the private room in the basement and had a great evening thanks to the very nice, attentive and fun waiters. We started with an incredibly delicious onion cake that was nice and fluffy. Duck, roast beef, devil's skewer were excellent, the beef was pink and everything was plentiful! We even got extra dumplings, sauce, spaetzle and red cabbage. The dessert platter definitely pushed us to the limit, but it was so incredibly delicious that we cleaned it down to the last spoon. All in all, we had a very nice evening that far exceeded our expectations.
Very cozy! Totally friendly, attentive service. We really felt comfortable. You should definitely make a reservation, because the restaurant is very popular and rightly so, even during the week it is fully booked.
We had one of the best meals of our life here, followed by a bottle of wine to-go and a walk on the wall around the city at night. It’s a story we will continue to tell of our trip to Germany for years to come.
Cozy, rustic restaurant - attentive and friendly service - delicious Bavarian cuisine. We liked it all around. Spontaneous visits seem difficult, but also during the week. A reservation is definitely recommended!
As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed. I can only recommend the daily recommendation onion roast beef with spaetzle and salad. Seldom ate so well. The service was great. We would love to come back.
Very tasty food and friendly waiters. So you can have a good time in the oldest house in Rothenburg. A bit off the beaten tourist track, it offers a wonderful atmosphere and a quiet place to linger. Reservation is recommended as it is very popular, but you can of course also try your luck. ? If you are in Rothenburg you should not miss this place. ?
Delicious! Perfectly coordinated food. Great wine selection. Good value for money. Highly recommended!
Didn't make a reservation and got a very nice spot outside in the afternoon. I was received in a friendly and polite manner in Hell in I was able to relax well with a glass of rosé wine and bread with lard. Franconian hospitality is at home here. I also bought a glass as a souvenir. Quiet little place on the edge of the hustle and bustle. Thank you very much
Wasn't as great as expected. The building is great, but the kitchen doesn't live up to expectations. Food was very average. But disproportionately expensive. Had chanterelles, with pork loin and bread dumpling: little mushrooms, a lot of sauce, meat so-so ... I thought € 24 was too much for that.
Here you can eat sophisticated food at a reasonable price. The service was excellent. We were here spontaneously on a rainy day, but you should make a reservation.
We entered this restaurant a little by chance, small, very characteristic and welcoming. The waitress first showed us the specials of the day. We had a soup of the day (tomato) and a smoked sausage as an appetizer. Then 2 plates of lamb with potatoes and finally a dessert made with fried apple slices. Everything was really very good, especially the lamb. With 3 beers the bill came to 75 €. Really recommended!
MEGA ???
A very, very nice address. The staff are friendly and the food exquisite. Typical local dishes only and limited choice, pledge of fees. A delight. Frankly reasonable price. On the other hand, there is no payment by card, so you have to plan to have cash.
Delicious food, attentive staff and a cozy atmosphere in a quiet location. Clean toilets. One of the oldest houses in the old town. Medieval dishes served in beautiful ceramic dishes. Price absolutely okay.
Never disappoints. Good food and service
Very good restaurant. Super good service. Excellent location. Good food.
We were very happy that we were able to take a seat in the historic building at short notice, because it was worth it! We were served very courteously and were served a delicious meal from our personal kitchen. The fact that one was treated very attentively also rounded off the visit. Many thanks for the nice evening with you! ??
The staff was very attentive! I had the seasonal Chanterelles in cream and it was delicious!
I have to admit, after all the good reviews, we were quite disappointed in the food. We had the mushrooms with dumplings and it was also quite expensive. We had lunch earlier in the day at another restaurant and had a much more pleasant experience. Would not recommend.
They do not have wifi and the rooms are not that great for the price. All in all not the best and not the worst.
Very good place with tasty food, wine, they have a nice service. It was a great experience.
Best restaurant in Rothenburg, incredible service and amazing food!!!
Very nice place good wine and friendly service
I had heard Zur Hoell was one of the best meals I would have while in Rothenburg. We were lucky enough to get a table when they opened for the evening and were treated like family by the lovely owner. We asked another couple if they’d like to join us and from there the evening was a blur of laughter, superb food and a friendly atmosphere. I started with a spring garlic soup before my skewered pork and fresh asparagus. I finish with a Frederick cake...I was assured was an Austrian treat. If you’re going to eat here it is very popular, for good reason, so get here early.
Excellent service and excellent food
We enjoyed our meal. Service was great, food was enjoyable, and dessert with some local brandy made the eve perfect!
We have rarely seen such courteous service by extremely nice people. The food was great and the schnapps too. I would like to be a regular here. Thank you for the great evening. We would love to come back.
Try deer ? and lamb ? best so far in Germany ??
Excellent staff. Excellent locale.
This restaurant is in a 900 years old, very beautiful. The food is outstanding, had the goose, potatoes, skewered meats, horseradish soup, great service a 10
Friendly staff with good selection of local wines. I had the roast goose with red cabbage and a potato dumpling which was amazing! The apple strudel was delicious. Book a table so you don't get turned away.
Amazing service and great goulash
We stumbled upon this place without a reservation and was seated within 10 min. Food was not bad but a little pricey. They only take cash and are bill total was a little over 33 euro. We paid with 50 euro and they brought us back change. We left a tip but forgot our 15 euro change. Returned a few min later and they gave us 10 euro back but kept the additional 5 euro. We would have given them the additional 5 euro anyway but they were not up front or honest and just took it. Who leaves a 60% tip. Well, maybe some people. Lesson learned..
Absolutely delicious food and a very cozy place. The staff were super friendly and even gave us extra food. Definitely recommend! We had the duck special and the meat skewer - both amazing.
Great staff, awesome food! The location of this place is tucked away, it feels quaint and warm. Really friendly wait staff and the food was so good. Try to make a reservation if you have a specific time you want to go, it's a gamble if they'll have tables available but so worth it!
Excellent friendly service, delicious food and a warm cosy atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend it... Just be aware that they don't take credit cards!
Friendly staff, all speaking English, serving very good German food at reasonable prices in a great decor. During our visit most clients were from overseas.
Excellent food! I love this place. It's a must.
Very good service, if a little slow to start. The food was good, but was not outstanding. Still a very nice stop.
Amazing place. One of the best meals of my life, and incredibly nice, perfect, amazing service. The building is also beautiful and very interesting on the inside. Honestly it would be worth driving hours to go here.
Very tasty food. But there were too many flies. Do reserve seats inside!
Loved the ambience in the cellar. Great food and wonderful service.
Wonderful historical location. Nice staff and local food
